Draft Statement of Community Involvement

The SCI is a document which sets out how the local planning authority will involve the community in producing planning documents, as well as on planning applications and pre-application enquiries. It is a statutory requirement.

The existing SCI was adopted in 2014 and a review was carried out in 2019. The amended version resulting from the 2019 review was never adopted because Council-wide changes to consultation were anticipated at the time, but never transpired. Therefore, a review of the SCI is overdue.

A review of the SCI's content was carried out in October 2024 and found that the SCI was up-to-date other than elements related to neighbourhood planning. Therefore, the Council is proposing updates to address this alongside other minor changes.

The consultation will close on 26th February 2025 at 5:00 p.m. If you have any questions, please contact the Planning Policy team at planningpolicy@reading.gov.uk
