Enforcement Guidance for Single-use Vapes

Single-use or disposable vapes were banned from 1 June 2025, making it illegal for businesses to sell or supply all single-use vapes across the UK, including those that are not refillable and cannot be recharged.

Retailers will face penalties for continuing to sell these products after the ban is enforced.

We are consulting on how Reading Borough Council intends to enforce the single use (disposable) vapes ban, using civil sanctions.

Please see the guidance here, and let us know if you have any comments.

The closing date for your feedback is 3rd November 2025.
