Your Council, Your Say

Your council could be changing – have your say

Calcot, Pangbourne, Purley on Thames, Theale, and parts of Tilehurst could become part of a new ‘Ridgeway’ Council under proposals being put forward by West Berkshire.

The new 'Ridgeway' Council will replace existing councils with a new, predominantly rural council. This will cover the whole of South Oxfordshire, Vale of White Horse, and West Berkshire, and will have a population of around 460,000 people. We believe this new council would be more remote and not focused on the needs of residents in the areas in and around Reading.

Reading Borough Council are therefore submitting a proposal to government to change the boundary of Reading to include the areas listed above. We believe this would provide better, more joined-up, and efficient services for residents.

We are seeking feedback from residents, businesses, Parish Councils, and other community groups on this issue and want to hear your views.
